VA Home Health Aide (HHA) Services

The VA Home Health Aide (HHA) Services program, also known as the Department of Veterans Affairs Homemaker Program, is designed to help veterans remain in their homes as long as possible by providing essential care and assistance with daily living activities. This program helps veterans avoid or delay the need for nursing home care by ensuring they receive the support they need in a familiar environment.

Key Features of VA Home Health Aide Services:

  • Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Veterans receive help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other essential tasks.

  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs): Support is also provided for tasks such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and managing finances.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Veterans typically receive 6 hours of visits per week, spread over multiple days, with some qualifying for a maximum of 9 hours per week based on their needs.

This program is designed to provide up to 3 hours of care per visit, ensuring that veterans receive the help they need to maintain their hygiene, health, and overall well-being.
